Doctor Andrew Dalby is a classicist, linguist, and an authority on food history – one of the best known authors of books discussing the history of food in the ancient and Medieval Mediterranean. In his publications he i.a. examines the evolution of Graeco-Roman cuisine in the light of social and economic history. Doctor Dalby, together with Sally Grainger, is a co-author of The Classical Cookbook, containing modern culinary recipes inspired by ancient source texts. Moreover, he is a translator of influential ancient and Byzantine works, such as De agricultura by Cato the Elder and Geoponica.
