Following an agreement signed between the Ceraneum Centre and the Library of the University of Łódź, a collection of Byzantine and Slavic studies was formed within the Library’s own collection, and includes:

  • the library of prof. Waldemar Ceran, numbering about 3000 volumes and donated to the University of Łódź by the Ceran family. The appropriate documents were signed by Mrs. Barbara Ceran, Mrs. Dorota Ceran and the Rektor of the University of Łódź on 18 May 2011,
  • the library of prof. Tadeusz Wasilewski, a Polish historian of Byzantium and the Balkan countries, transferred by a decision of the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and History to the Library of the University of Łódź,
  • a collection of works on antiquity and the Byzantine period, owned by the Library of the Institute of History of UŁ, transferred into the custody of the Library of the University of Łódź by the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and History,
  • scholarly journals on Ancient, Byzantine and Balkan history, as well as selected titles on the subject, transferred from the storage of the Library of the UŁ.

The Ceraneum collection is enriched with the gifts from various academic centres, in Poland and abroad.

Monday-Saturday 8.00 a.m. - 8.00 p.m.

Sanday - closed

In order to use the Collection it is necessary to have library card or student card.
